Consul General Cardenas Appeals to the Filipino Community to send donations to our Filipino brothers affected by Typhoon Ondoy
Consul General Leoncio R. Cardenas sends his appeal to the Filipino Community for donations to those affected by the devastation left by Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana).
“I wish to request all our kababayans, and through you, to your neighbors, workmates, business organizations, and extend to our brothers and sisters our most generous helping hand, show that we care and provide them hope as they start the difficult process of returning to a semblance of a normal life disrupted by typhoon Ondoy. Any amount you can spare would be most helpful and is highly appreciated.”
“I wish to convey my appreciation to members of the Filipino Community, good and kindly individuals, who have given donations or signified their intention to give as soon as possible.”
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo described the typhoon as an “extreme event.” All government disaster-relief agencies are stretched to the limits as they commence the extensive and costly recovery efforts to assist those in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon who have been affected by the heavy torrential rains and widespread flood caused by the typhoon.
The Filipino Community and all kind-hearted organizations and individuals may send their donations at the following government agencies:
§ Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
§ National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC)
§ Department of Health (Medicines and or Medical and Humanitarian Missions
§ Philippine National Red Cross
