30 September 2009 - The Philippine Consulate General is closely coordinating with all Filipino Community organizations, leaders and individuals in a fund drive for the victims of typhoon Ondoy.
At the meeting held on 29 September 2009, an Ad Hoc Committee was formed to manage the details of the Fund Drive. Consul General Leoncio Cardenas, Consul Paul Cortes and Consul Lourdes Tabamo joined the meeting presided by Mr. Jun Colmenares of the Council of Visayan Organizations (COVO).
Other attendees were: Toy Arre (FilCom Center), Raymund Liongson (LCC/Knights of Rizal), Eddie Agas (UFCH), Danny Villaruz (OFCC), Tony Sagayadoro (KNDI), Lynne Gutierrez (KNDI), Alex Escasa (Hawaiian Lodge), Darwin Arellano (Filipino Jaycees), Janilee Mariano (Filipino Jaycees), Jay Raymundo (Filipino Jaycees), Angel Lewis (Filipino Jaycees), Edna Alikpala (Filipino Chamber of Commerce), and Rose Mendoza (Filipino Chamber of Commerce).
The Filipino Community Center is now accepting cash and checks (payable to the FilComCenter /Philippine Relief Fund).
All members of the Filipino-American Community are enjoined to participate at the “Telethon” to be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Filipino Community Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, with KNDI live radio coverage from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., hosted by Tony Sagayadoro. There will be a collection table at Filcom to be manned by Filipino Jaycees and Philippine Consulate General staff.
Also on Sunday, 4 October, a one-day simultaneous collection will be launched at various sites in Oahu and other islands. Initial list of these sites are:
A Press conference will be held on Thursday, October 1, at 5:00 p.m. at the FilCom Center to finalize details of all these activities.
