Philippine Consulate Brings Christmas Cheer to the Filipino Community in Hawaii

07 December 2009 - The Philippine Consulate General Honolulu (PCGH) and the Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawaii (PCCCH) teamed up for the Annual Filipino Caroling to bring Christmas Cheer and Best Wishes to the Filipino Community in Honolulu.

Led by Consul General Leoncio R. Cardenas, the PCGH and the PCCCH Chorale called on Arsenio Agustin of AJ  Construction and the homes of prominent Filipino doctor, Dr. Nick Joaquin and community leader Mrs. Ela Bueno and sang traditional  Filipino Christmas Carols.  Included in the repertoire of the Chorale were the much-beloved “Maligayang-maligayang Pasko”, and “Noche Buena” that evoke poignant nostalgia of festive Filipino Christmas spent with family and friends.

The Annual Christmas Caroling is a much awaited event by the Filipino Community.  The PCCCH, a Community  outreach arm of the Philippine Consulate General, led by its Chairman, Ms. Maggie Domingo,  coordinated the requests for schedule for caroling.  Traditionally held on the first Friday of December, homeowners hang their colorful “parols” and invite relatives and friends to come to their homes to hear the carols and spend festive time together before everyone become busy with  the season’s festivities and travels outside of Hawaii
