11 March 2010. The Philippine Celebrations Coordinating Committee of Hawaii (PCCCH), in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General, announces plans for the 112th Independence Day Celebrations on 12 June 2010. PCCCH Chairman, Ms. Maggie Domingo, is assisted in the preparations by Ms. Cecilia Villafuerte as Event s Chairman and all the Officers of the PCCCH for a Filipino Community gathering that highlights the Filipinos’ noblest aims of an independent and a successful Philippines.
The “June 12” Celebrations will be composed of two parts, the A.M. Program, to be held at the Philippine Consulate General will include a Flag Raising Ceremony, a Historical Tableau being organized by Dr. Raymund Liongson and Dr. Jun Colmenares and a Thanksgiving Mass. The P.M. Program, a Dinner, Dance & Show, will include a Ceremonial Toast and a Performance Show that will feature Hawaii’s leading Filipino talents namely The Singing Diplomat Consul Paul Raymund Cortes, Manila’s Singing Sensation Angeli Callo, Honolulu’s Bright Star Arshiel, with guest star, internationally-acclaimed Pianist, Mr. Joselito Pascual. The Dinner-Dance/Show will be held on 12 June 2010, at Tapa Ballroom, HiltonHawaiianVillage. In the run-up to the occasion, an Essay Writing Contest will be launched on 31 March 2010, at the Philippine Consulate General. The contest is open to Filipino youth, ages 13 – 21, for an original essay of 500 – 1000 words, on the theme “Pilipino, Ang Galing Mo!” for submission by 10 April 2010. Winning essay will win $300.00 and will be featured in the 2010 Independence Day Souvenir Booklet. Interested parties may visit the Philippine Consulate General website for further details.
